Winter dreaming…..in the key of V

I have a confession. I fall prey to the advertisements that get sent to my e-mail. Damn you, Modcloth and your sales. You send me an e-mail giving me a code for 25% on outerwear, and what's a girl to do? Sigh…I have a problem and it's called a clothing addiction. Or should I say a clothing-on-sale addiction. So of course, I have to browse through all of the jackets and coats that are eligible for the discounts and I come across this beauty.

So….yeah. I may have bought it. And by may have I mean I did. I don't know if it will fit though, since the largest size it is offered in is a Large. I am praying to the fashion gods that this will fit me. It's so dang cute! Classic with with a girly twist. I guess that's what I always lean toward. After looking at this, I decided to look at other offerings from Ryu and I found this as well:

I.want.so.bad. But I know it would just hang in my closet. I would be too afraid I would spill something on it (aka I'm a klutz). Maybe someone else out there can buy it and I will live vicariously through you. It's is one of the most romantic pieces I have ever come across. Really, all of Ryu's items are full of romance. Here's another example:

It harkens back to a different era. I love clothes that can just sweep you to a different time period. Here is one last lovely from Ryu that is new on Modcloth today:

Apparently I have a thing for cream right now. It's just so beautiful.

Heres a few more of my favorites:

Found here. So classy.

Found here. The chain on the cuffs are such a fantastic detail.

This just looks so cozy. Like I want to go for a walk in the snow and go ice skating.

This one was the other main contender for purchase against the first one pictured. Unfortunately, it's not currently available in my size, so at least the decision was made easier : ) I love the fact that the fabric is a mixture of brown, black, and gray, so it could be worn with basically everything. And the hood! Such a great feature.

Alrighty, time to get back to the lovely world of mutual funds. Keep warm everyone! : D

Music ensemble (pun intended)

If you know anything about me, you probably know that I LOVE MUSIC. It's been my main passion for as long as I can remember. So, of course, when I see clothing with some sort of music feature I get a little excited. The following are items that have caught my music-loving eye:

I adore this new dress from Sugarhill Boutique. Dark-navy blue is a hue I gravitate toward, and with the gramophone print, it's just too cute.

Next up is the "In the Key of Chic Dress" from ModCloth. I posted the rainbow version in the previous post, which my dear friend Nina surprised me with by sending it to me! (pictures to come). This is the original print, which is a must for any music performance major/teacher. I really love the print, but I don't know if I could pull it off.

Now for a comfy way to support the music love. This is the perfect top to lounge around in on a Saturday. I can see it paired with some black skinny jeans and boots, sitting in front of a fireplace, notebook in hand, writing out lyrics about lost love, the raindrops fallings, while listening to Bon Iver or Amos Lee. Sorry....got a little day-dreamy there haha. Another ModCloth pick.

All that musical love and creativity is going to work up an appetite, right? Well, it's time to get in the kitchen and whip something up using these fantastic wooden spoons. Throw on some rock n' roll and drum along while cooking it up!

And then you take your leftovers to work/school in this awesome lunchbox! Pay homage to one of the greatest musical influences of all time, The Beatles!
I also love that Modcloth titles this as "Ate Days A Week." Clever title Modcloth, clever title.

And how about this adorable pin?

Now to end with a few of my favorite music-inspired quotes:

Where words end music begins.
Goethe

Which of these two powers, love or music,
can elevate man to the most sublime heights?
Why separate them?
They are the two wings of the soul.
Hector Berlioz

Music is the soil in that
the spirit lives, thinks and invents.
Ludwig van Beethoven

Happy Friday friends! Enjoy the three day weekend! <3

Getting Cozy....in the key of V

It's raining. It's weird that rain feels so foreign right now, being in the Pacific NW and all. But the summer has been particularly sunny, so now that the clouds have come in it almost feels like autumn is upon us. Which I am NOT ready for. Nonetheless, it's putting me in the mood to want to get comfy, curl up with a cup of coffee in front of a fireplace, and read a cheesy girl fiction book. Here are a few items I wish I were wearing currently:

I will probably end up ordering this snuggly sweater at some point:

And how about this cute striped number? (yes you will notice I am drawn to stripes).

And of course some leggings to accompany the above items. They go with the rainy theme don't they?

And I just looooove these hoodies. I certainly shall get one. Blue or pink? What do you think? (didn't mean to rhyme there, sorry).

The detailing on the hood is just too cute.

Feeling cozy yet? Someone out there needs to go sit in front of a fireplace, coffee in hand for me, so I can live vicariously through you as I sit at my desk staring into the void of the internet.

Happy Friday everyone! And for one last item that made me chuckle. I might just have to get this welcome mat. Wouldn't you want to hang out with the person who has this at their front door?

Monday...in the key of V

It's a Monday. 'Nuff said. As I certainly have a "case of the Mondays," the only way to combat this is to post things that make me smile. So here goes.....this is my list of smile-inducing fashions.

This flowery beauty is putting the spring back in my step, especially on such a gray morning.

This necklace adds the perfect whimsical touch to the demureness of the dress.

(This dress and necklace is what I am wearing today)

The following frock is one that immediately caught my eye. Doesn't the color scheme remind you of an Eric Carle book? (The Hungry Caterpillar anyone?) You gotta wonder if the the designer took a cue from the hues of Mr. Carle. (sorry had to rhyme there)

And now for one last dash of whimsy (can't get away from that, can I?)

Alrighty, friends, I should probably do some actual work now. I wish for puppies and rainbows and cupcakes for you all today. And if anyone wants to send me a cupcake, I shan't refuse.

Hands...in the key of V

start

verb (used without object)
1.
to begin or set out, as on a journey or activity.
2.
to appear or come suddenly into action, life, view, etc.; rise or issue suddenly forth.

So what exactly am I doing here? If you know me well, you know I am a bit of a wordsmith. I love words. The way different words feel in your mouth. The way they taste. I love how certain words evoke certain emotions and visions. [A couple favorites are conjure, endure, enchant, and intrigue]. Things like onomatopoeia and alliteration get me excited. So, what better way to start my blog than with a definition of the word start? This definition tells me I am beginning on a journey. Through my writing on various thoughts, opinions, dreams, etc. I plan to learn about myself a bit more--to  journey deeper into what makes my heart skip a beat and speaks to my soul. My focus in this blog will be fashion, decor, music, wordplay, and the occasional random musing.  I plan on being completely self-indulgent with this, so without further ado...

My secret dream is to become a hand model. Yes, just like Joey on Friends. My hands are probably my favorite physical feature. Now, I have no idea how to go about looking into this. I guess I should Google it.

Okay.....I'm back. And of course, there is a Wiki-how of just what to do to become a hand model in five easy steps. http://www.wikihow.com/Become-a-Hand-Model
Well, I already know I have awesome hands so I can skip steps 1 and 2. On to step 3. Create a portfolio. I guess that makes sense. Regular models have portfolios, so hand models do too. Alrighty then, here is picture number one.

Bear in mind I just took this picture in crappy light with my not-so-stellar IPAD camera, by pushing the capture button with my nose (I couldn't hold the IPAD and hit the button at the same time.) What do you think? Do I have the potential?

Happy Friday everyone!!!
